Let's start at the very beginning...
A very good place to start...
If it's Wednesday than I must be in Salzburg... And you know what that means - “THE SOUND OF MUSIC TOUR”! Yes, there was no way I was coming to Salzburg and not doing this tour in all its cheesiest glory.A very good place to start...
Our guide, Ruth from the UK was fantastic and really into it and of course knew all the trivia and many of the behind-the-scenes stories.
The tour took around four hours and included a few stops including Leopoldskron Palace (the exterior was used as the Trapp family home where the children were boating on the lake and fell into the water); Hellbrunn Palace (where the glass pavilion has been reconstructed); St Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang (scenery from this area was shown at the beginning of the movie); and Mondsee (the Cathedral was used for the wedding scene; and the trees where the children were playing as Captain Von Trapp, Alisa and Uncle Max were driving after returning from Vienna).

I then spent a good few hours wandering the streets of the old town before finding a nice spot for dinner and a beer.
