D26: London

We were up early this morning to check out of our hotel.  We caught a traditional 'black cab' and headed over to our new hotel in Kensington where we dropped off our bags before heading into Victoria Station to catch a train to Bexhill to visit an old family friend.
Growing up, one of my earliest memories is of our neighbors "The Drakes" (Barbara, Ralph Snr and their children Ralph Jnr and Susan).  They were only our neighbors for a few years before heading back to England.  Mum & Barbie remained great friends over the years and would often talk for ages on the phone.  Barbie also had this uncanny ability to send birthday cards that would arrive on the actual date.

Barbie hadn't been well for many years, and mum really wanted to see her old friend one more time.  It really was a fantastic day and it was hard to believe that it had been over 30 years since they'd last seen each other face to face.  Ralph Jr collected us from the Polegate train station and then drove us to their family home where these two old friends had a lovely couple of hours catching up on old times.
