...Today, drive from Bohemia into Moravia and continue southwest before crossing into Austria. Arrive in Vienna in the early afternoon in time for the optional excursion to the jewel of the former Habsburg Empire - breathtaking Schonbrunn Palace with its ornate imperial rooms and its fabulous gardens. Reserve some energy for this evening's optional excursion. (B)
So today we headed off to Vienna. It wasn't a huge driving day, so we only had one brief stop before heading into the Austrian capital. First up are a couple of picture from the drive.

Once we arrived in Vienna, we had a few hours to explore the city center before heading to the optional guided tour of the magnificent Schonbrunn Palace, which was the summer residence of the Austrian Emperors for nearly 150 years. Once the tour ended we had some free time in the main gardens before heading to the hotel.
For our evening entertainment, we headed off to one of the many wine villages just outside of Vienna. The food was simple and rustic, and we had a nice evening and Janos (our tour director) even entertained, and was then joined by one of our fellow travelers, Noel.
