... The wealth of gothic and baroque architecture here must have truly inspired Prague composers Dvorak and Smetana. Included sightseeing with a Local Guide features landmarks such as the National Theatre, Belvedere, Charles Bridge, and the Old Town Hall with its magnificent Astronomical Clock. (B)
We had a lovely morning exploring the old town before heading to the historical Castle District . In the old town we walked on the famous Karluv Most (also known as the Charles Bridge), the astronomical clock and the area around the old town square.
Our afternoon excursion was to the Castle area where we entered the Royal Palace, St. Vitus Cathedral and the Crypt of the Bohemian Kings, the St. George Basilica and the Golden Lane where the novelists Franz Kafka lived for a short while.Tonight was an optional 'traditional' Czech dinner and it was delicious.
