While most of us know the song "Let Me Entertain You" as the title of one of Robbie's numerous hit songs, I've come to the conclusion that it must be his personal mantra when performing live in front of a sold out stadium of over 54,000 people.
After a pre-concert dinner at Pepe's Mexican Restaurant, Jos & I headed up Milton Rd to join the throng of people descending on the stadium for the 1st of Robbie's two shows in BrisVegas. There definitely was a real buzz as we approached the stadium and the excitement built as we finally made our way inside the gates. While we didn't get to see much of the support act (Sneaky Sound System), they sounded pretty damn good. Our seats were awesome, and we knew that we were going to be in for one amazing experience!
When Robbie finally emerged up through the floor of the stage, hands on hips, as flames and fireworks exploded from the top of the giant stage, the entertainer that is Robbie Williams had absolutely arrived to show those of us lucky to be there, what a live concert experience should be like. Pyrotechnics snaked down the long catwalk and more than 54,000 screaming fans erupted in sheer joy at the sight. This was just the start of over 2 hours of full-on entertainment. He really seemed to be enjoying himself and I think it's fair to say that Brisbane really enjoyed him.
To my absolute delight, he removed his jacket during the opening number to reveal his Brisbane Lions AFL jumper. Some may comment he was close to comitting a sin, with Suncorp Stadium being the home to Rugby League, and not the AFL - but who really cares, as the whole crowded erupted in cheers anyway!!! He went on to tell us about his night out with the boys from the Lions and that they were now his team!!! It sounds like Brownie made quite an impression on him.

Even before Robbie urged the crowd in the reserved seating section to stand up, I was on my feet and remained that way for most of the concert.
Some of my favorite moments included:Come Undone- what a response from the crowd, it was amazing (although the crowd was totally behind Robbie for the whole night).Next up - Let Me Entertain You... Three words for you OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was definitely THE song of the show - it was FANTASTIC! and it completely went off! I'm pretty sure this was when the noise went above the approved sound levels.. but it was just incredible, and I can't really give you much more than that. Truly a massive highlight of the evening!Robbie's mate Jonathan Wilkes (known for pretty much being Robbie's best friend and former flatmate) joined him on stage for a few of the 'swing' numbers. They seemed to have a very good rapport together and were fantastic. I've read some reviews that were critical of Robbie bringing on his best mate, but it was only for a couple of songs so I didn't really mind.
The 4 song encore was great. The audience really seemed to respond to Rudebox and he actually seemed blown away by our response to it. Angels (of course) was pretty special and he then finished the show off with Kids. Something sounded a bit off with the sound, particularly from the girls, so for me it wasn't quite as spectacular as the Kylie & Bono experience from a few weeks ago.
Robbie entertained Brisbane and I think it's safe to say that Robbie loves Brisbane and the amazing venue that is Suncorp Stadium. He really had the audience in the palm of his hand from start to finish, personalising his witty banter to the crowd's obvious delight. Suncorp lived up to the pre-concert hype and it appeared to handle it's baptism of fire in the concert arena without too many obvious hitches. It really was an amazing venue. I managed to find Lana after the show, so we then headed down to the Transit Centre carpark where I'd parked earlier in the morning. It was a little frustrating trying to get out of there, but we eventually got out (and I've certainly learnt my lesson for next time).
Kay's taxi service then kicked in as we picked up Pat from a function he'd been attending in town. The trip home had the added fun of being part of a RBT stop (which I passed with flying colours, in case you were wondering). So the verdict (if you haven't already worked it out) - if you get the chance to see RW in concert, don't think twice and just book the tickets. You won't be disappointed. TRUST ME!!!
