City of Lights...
After work on Thursday I met up with Jos & Ben at South Bank where we had an early dinner at the South Bank Surf Club.
Ben enjoying his dinner...
We then headed down towards the river to get a prime spot to watch the 7pm "Santos City of Lights" show, part of the 2011 Brisbane Festival. Lights and lasers radiated from roof tops, across the river and bridges and the action was set to a musical score broadcast across speakers that had been set up along the promenade. There were lots of people around, but we managed to get a great seat right on the river so we had an unobstructed view of the spectacle.
The Brisbane Festival runs each September for 3 weeks, and sees all sorts of events including theatre, music, and of course the iconic Riverfire. There are quite a number of free events on the calendar and this year it included the debut of the Santos city of Lights. It was a beautiful Brisbane night down by the river and hopefully the "City of Lights" will return bigger and better next year.
