Crowded House - Time on Earth Tour...

Also at this concert – Sam, Dan, Michelle (from Melbourne), Jos, Paul, Michelle, Tony, Tab and Andrew.

After surviving the terrible service at the Toombul Sizzler (we ended up with free vouchers, so all was not lost), we made our way to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre to see the Crowdies.

We missed most of the support band “Augie March”, but I was very happy with our seats. Michelle, Jos, Paul and I were on the floor about 7 rows from the front, which was awesome; and Michelle, Tony, Tab and Andrew were also on the floor, a little further back.

It was an amazing show and those boys sure now how to make some beautiful music! Neil's voice sounded perfect and it was like it simply has not aged.

They opened with Private Universe, and it really was a great way to introduce the new drummer Matt Sherrod. He totally rocked out on those drums. The boys appeared to be in a really great mood and there was lots of banter between them all. At one point some yelled out “Come on Nugget” which Neil thought was amusing. He wondered if the person who yelled it out was from Te Awamutu "25" years ago, and Nick then went on to correct him by saying "more like 40 years ago!". The crowd was in stitches at this point, which then lead them to a discussion about what nasty things the bands brothers did to them. The only one I can remember was Nicks which was hilarious and involved the possibility of women getting pregnant from bus seats! Go figure!!!

Like most concerts at the BEC, the crowd was pretty “reserved”, but during “Weather With You”, some people tried to run up and dance when Neil said it was ok. Of course the security guards reaction was totally OTT, and Neil made a specific point of telling the security guard to let everyone up and dance, and with than heaps of people made their way up to the front.

And then for something complete different – just before they came out for the encore, about ½ dozen greyhounds were lead out. Apparently it was to support the “Greyhounds As Pets” cause that was a charity the boys were supporting.
